A brief by British manufacture Isokon Plus to design and re-evaluate the contemporary function of their signature bookcase product "Penguin Donkey" - designed in the 1930s by Egon Riss for the purpose of holding the new and affordable penguin book series.

Commenting on the organised chaos of family living and the complex dynamics that can come with it, a design was conceived to organize mess, for all members of the family to deposit their most frequently used objects lying around the surrounding area. The portable, empty and playful saddle-bag language of the design, is meant to encourage interactive use and influence the user to tidy. The storage can be used for children's toys to magazines.

Family Donkey keeps true to Isokon's manufacturing techniques and material use of plywood and aeroply.
